After a long, blissed-out summer, going back to school is a tough sell for kids and parents alike. No more stretched out summer nights, no more sleeping in, no more cottages or camps or ice cream every day...sniff. Sorry, what was I saying? Oh right. Back to school.
Since we all know that shopping makes everything better (and if you don't know, now you know), why not soften the blow with a little back-to-school shopping? From pretty patched-up jackets to super fun shark socks to sparkly moto skinnies, this year's back-to-school gear is made to stand out in a crowd - sort of like your standout kid. Sure, basics are fine. But why go basic when you can dress like a genius? Not that I'm in a position to award marks but if I was, I'd give these picks an A+. Plus bonus points. I mean seriously, SO much cuteness here.
Hope these last weeks of summer are the best ever. Anyone else wish you could just press pause?

He's already rad and he already has everything he could possibly need (you, of course), but with Dad's Day just around the corner, now is the perfect time to pick him up something he probably wouldn't buy himself. Whether he doesn't 'do' shopping or just needs a few little updates, these 15 finds will bring him right up to speed in time for summer.
Happy (almost) Father's Day to all the great (soon-to-be-extra-stylish) dads out there.
WHY HE'LL LOVE THEM | If he's wearing his vintage (in a bad way) high school Oakleys, scratched up shades, or bright white sunglasses (omg Dad, soooo embarrassing), it's time to get him a pair he can finally wear in public. Thank you Ray-Ban.
OUR PICK | Ray-Ban Sunglasses, $225, Sunglass Hut
WHY HE'LL LOVE IT | He might love his logo tees but you? Not so much. Whether you're a wife who wishes he'd stop being best buds with his Budweiser tee or a daughter who just wants to help Dad reach his full fashion potential, a space dye tee is a versatile pick for wearing solo or layered under solids.
OUR PICK | Space Dye Tee, $45.90, RW&CO.
WHY HE'LL LOVE THEM | Forget sloppy sweatpants. These refined joggers can be worn at work (assuming he works for a cool boss - not-cool bosses take note), to wilding on the weekend (assuming wilding means trying out a new bbq sauce).
OUR PICK | Levi's Drawstring Joggers, $56, Hudson's Bay
WHY HE'LL LOVE IT | Steel mesh says tough, mixed metals says risk-taker, and the Danish brand says he appreciates design. Oh, right, and it tells time, too.
WHY HE'LL LOVE THEM | Summer is the perfect time of year to shake up a style rut. These printed shorts are awesome and affordable making them a great gift that he might not think to buy himself.
OUR PICK | Slim-Fit Printed Shorts, $19.99 each, H&M
WHY HE'LL LOVE IT | Whether he plays golf or not, the summer polo is a must-have for those days when a button-down feels too stuffy and a tee's just too casual. This Dad's Day, upgrade his polo by honing in on the details, whether it's a fun allover bug print or a cool leather patch.
WHY HE'LL LOVE IT | If he bikes to work or just wants to stand out in a sea of briefcases, consider the sleek leather backpack a total gift win.
OUR PICK | Raiders Leather Pack, $398, Roots
WHY HE'LL LOVE THEM | From lounging by the pool to exploring the world at large, these fun palm tree espadrilles are way more interesting than your average flip-flop.
WHY HE'LL LOVE IT | If his current bathers are baggy, blah, and below-the-knee, it's time to add some style to his swim time. We're loving these modern straight-cut board shorts that sit just above the knee and come in either a gorgeous coral or this lush grassy green.
OUR PICK | Solid Board Shorts, $54.95, GAP
WHY HE'LL LOVE IT | From summer weddings to a day at the races, a linen handkerchief is a fun buy for your dapper Dad.
OUR PICK | Linen Handkerchief, $14.99, H&M
WHY HE'LL LOVE IT | Belts are functional but that doesn't mean they have to be boring. This stripe fabric belt might just make him rethink the rest of his accessories, too.
OUR PICK | Stripe Fabric Belt, $24.95, GAP
WHY HE'LL LOVE THEM | He makes a mean margarita and he's always the life of any party - seems fitting that his socks should have just as much fun.
OUR PICK | Spotted Socks, $4.99, H&M
WHY HE'LL LOVE IT | Drugstore shaving cream does the job but Sephora does it better. Turn his shaving game into a sport with top-rated luxury picks, from L'Occitane's fan-favourite after-shave balm to the miracle ingrown hair fixer by Anthony.
WHY HE'LL LOVE IT | With joggers or jeans, cool nights are always better in a bomber. Forget straight up leather or straight up nylon, your Dad's such a superhero he can wear both. At the same time. Avengers who?
OUR PICK | Nylon/Leather Varsity Jacket, $398, Roots

The long weekend in May is always a major milestone for Canadians. It's a signal that it's finally safe to plant our flowers. It's a sign that we can open up our pools and cottages - or stop pressuring our friends and family who own pool and cottages to open them. In short - it's the marker that means we can finally stop freezing all the time. And while we all know that anything can happen with the weather this weekend (and it usually does - many of us have camped our way through loads of May 2-4's, braving everything from heat waves to golf-ball-sized hail - true story), we know that summer is just around the corner.
While I fully condone chilling all weekend long, it doesn't mean you have to totally let it all go. I mean, kick back, eat what you want, drink what you want, do what you want - but let's keep our wardrobe game strong, okay? Get rid of those torn-up flannel jammies. Toss aside that ratty old beer tee you got for free in University. Instead, pick up a pair of cute slim joggers, fun bright shorts, Snapchat-strong logo tees and strappy little sandals. From camping with your besties to opening up your cottage to just staycationing in your own backyard, I've rounded up casual but still super-cute finds to help you make the most of your extra loooong weekend. Happy almost May 2-4, lovelies! Anyone else counting down the hours?
