Rompers: you either love them or you don't get them. If you're like me, you love them on other people but you don't get them, as in never actually buy them, for yourself. That is, until you start wearing them. As a professional shopper by trade, it's my duty to try, try and try again, and so I've tried on every kind of playsuit/jumpsuit/romper tossed over my changing room door. I've tried on some so short that I realize that despite my mind over matter mastery, I am definitely not 22 anymore. I've slipped on many that make me question whether I look like I'm trying to twin with my 7 year-old. And while a few have made it into my closet over the past few years, they languished in the back for months on end, never quite beating out my summer dresses.
And so, I made it my mission to give them a proper shot. I started with overalls - a black slim pair that look effortless cool with a white tee. I graduated to a long, loose and lovely navy jumpsuit that I usually wear with a bright cardi (neon yellow's my fave) tied around my waist. And then I really went for it - a super fun palm print that was short enough to look playful but covered up enough to keep me looking my age. And by that I mean 5 years younger than my actual age. Perfect. As for this season? I'll be adding a cropped wide leg culotte romper to the mix that I can't wait to wear to everything from meetings to date nights.
Okay, enough already, time to shop. Check out the 40 rompers on my lust list right now. Just try one on for size - I dare you ;)
